Our journey is rooted in a proud yet challenging history. In the 1980s, Ransiki was home to a thriving cacao plantation known as Cokran ("Coklat Ransiki"), a government-initiated project in partnership with the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC). This estate brought economic prosperity to the region, producing high-quality cacao beans that reached global markets, including direct sales to Mars.
However, with commercialization came challenges. A change in ownership in 1996 led to mismanagement, and by 2006, the plantation collapsed, devastating our community. Jobs were lost, livelihoods vanished, and hope faded.
Yet, our spirit endured. In 2017, with support from the local government, we embarked on the journey to rebuild. We initially formed a cooperative but soon realized that a green and social enterprise would be the most sustainable path forward.
By 2022, we established PT EBIER SUTH COKRAN, laying the foundation for a commercially run, community-driven enterprise with a clear mission—to restore the land, uplift our people, and operate sustainably. Today, we are revitalizing the plantation hectare by hectare, proving that a business can thrive while preserving nature and empowering its people.
